Ever since the dawn of idioms, a disturbing trend has emerged.....
What once was seen as skillful hunting is now a wasteful mismanagement of precious stone resources.
What was previously a trait seen in the strongest and most diligent, now is a sign of ignorance
It’s a tale as old as time, a song as old as rhyme. The beauty of capitalistic greed.
More freedom. More money. More ‘Murica!
In board gaming it usually revolves around the idea of getting the most bang for your buck through sales or exclusive promotions. In the next couple of articles I will break down the most common issues that I have encountered in my web-based travels. Kickstarter exclusives and the oft elusive mega haul of super cheap games on clearance. Each has its own place in the enthusiast community and ultimately does more good than harm to the hobby. But each has its fair share of pitfalls and unintended consequences that can lead to some less than amicable conversations. I will attempt to break down each in the collection of words below but want to give a grave warning to those that dare venture past these introductory statements. I am a fellow human being (shockwaves ring out through the internet) and thus I am guilty of indulging in some or all of these practices that I find problematic to the overall image of tabletop board gaming. This is to say that I am biased, blinded, and beholden to the realities I experience through the filter of my worldview. Enjoy!
